WHAT IS RESIN-BONDED PAVING?

Resin-bound paving is a modern, durable, and aesthetically pleasing paving solution created by mixing natural 1–5 mm aggregates with a clear, two-component polyurethane resin. This mixture of resin and stones is then applied to a prepared sub-base and hand-troweled to create a seamless, smooth finish. It's a popular choice for driveways, garden paths, patios, and public spaces thanks to its sleek appearance and long-lasting performance.

Unlike loose gravel or traditional asphalt paving, resin-bound driveways are fully bonded—each paver is coated with resin before application. This creates a strong, stable surface that is both slip-resistant and highly wear-resistant. When you choose resin-bound materials from Resin Bound , you benefit from advanced, high-quality products that ensure years of durable and beautiful results.

Substructure layers

A high-quality resin-bound topcoat literally starts with the foundation. The foundation and structure beneath your resin-bound surface are crucial for a durable finish, good drainage, and a smooth, crack-free result. Skimping on this step can lead to expensive problems later. See the diagram below for a clear overview of the layers that require professional installation.

WHAT TYPE OF RESIN DO WE SELL?

Resin Bound UVR Pro is a two-component polyurethane resin that is UV-resistant. This means the surface will not yellow, discolor, or fade over time. Thanks to strong and resilient polymers, our resin is one of the strongest and most flexible on the market, ensuring a stable, durable, and wear-resistant surface. With our resin-bound materials—and when installed correctly—you can be sure of a finish that will last for years.

ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION!

Not all resin products deliver the same strength. Always choose a resin with a 50:50 (or 1:1) ratio , which forms a stronger bond and guarantees a durable and wear-resistant driveway, path, or patio.

WHAT TYPE OF GRANULES DO WE SELL?

At Resin Bound, we believe your home deserves only the best—both in appearance and durability. That's why we developed Resin Rox: a premium range of washed, dried, and carefully sieved granules, specifically designed for resin-bound surfaces.

Unlike standard granulates , Resin Rox stones are matched to resin: each stone type is selected based on color, strength, shape, and compatibility with resin. The result? A durable surface that's UV-resistant, tear-resistant, and low-maintenance—and stays beautiful for years to come.

STRUCTURE OF EACH LAYER WITHIN YOUR SURFACE

  • RBS Resin Bound Pro (15–20mm)
The top layer of your surface – both decorative and functional – consists of natural granules bound with a high-quality UV-stable polyurethane resin.
This layer is completely water-permeable, wear-resistant and provides a smooth, low-maintenance finish with anti-slip properties.
Ideal for pedestrian traffic and light vehicles, with a long life and weather resistance.
  • RBS Tear Reduction Membrane (100% Reinforcing)
A heavily reinforced, flexible membrane placed between the substrate and the resin layer to prevent cracking due to movement or settlement.
It prevents stresses or cracks from the underlying layers from penetrating into the top layer.
Consists of a high-quality geogrid or geotextile material for added structural strength.
  • Water-permeable resin-bound / screed / concrete (50–80 mm)
This supporting layer supports the resin-bonded finish.
Depending on the application, this consists of water-permeable resin-bonded or porous concrete.
Both provide strength and water permeability, depending on the chosen variant and underground requirements.
  • MOT Type 3 or Equivalent (±150 mm)
The foundation sub-layer is constructed from crushed, graded crushed stone with a low fine dust content for optimal water permeability.
Essential for a stable, frost-resistant and well-compacted base, suitable for SUDS-compliant systems. Provides structural support to the overlying layers.
  • Geotextile membrane
A water-permeable textile that is applied between the subsoil and the foundation.
Prevents mixing of the layers, promotes filtration, and extends the life of the system.
Rot resistant and suitable for long-term ground contact.
  • Undisturbed Subsurface
The original or prepared substrate upon which the entire system is constructed.
Must provide sufficient load-bearing capacity and drainage capacity, and be well compacted to prevent subsidence. May consist of clay, sand, loam or combinations thereof.
